# Butterfly's First Big Flight

## Story

**Page 1:** Ruby Butterfly opens her new wings for the first time. They are orange, black, and white.

**Page 2:** Ruby wants to fly to the tallest sunflower. It looks very far away.

**Page 3:** She flaps her wings once, twice, three times. Up she goes, just a little way.

**Page 4:** A gust of wind pushes Ruby sideways. She wobbles, but she keeps flapping.

**Page 5:** Ruby flies over a red rose. She waves to a bee below.

**Page 6:** She flies over a blue pond. She sees her wings in the water.

**Page 7:** Ruby is getting tired, but the sunflower is close now. She flaps a little harder.

**Page 8:** At last, Ruby lands softly on the tall sunflower. "I flew all the way!" she cheers.

**Page 9:** She sips sweet nectar from the sunflower. It tastes like sunshine.

**Page 10:** Ruby rests on the sunflower and smiles. Her first big flight was brave, wobbly, and wonderful.
